Edward Burne-Jones, (Birmingham, 28 augustus 1833 – Fulham, 17 juni 1898) was een Engels kunstenaar en ontwerper die nauw verbonden was met de Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Leven en werk. Burne-Jones was geboren als zoon van een lijstenmaker in Bennetts Hill. Zijn moeder stierf zes dagen na zijn geboorte en hij werd opgevoed door zijn vader.
Edward Burne-Jones (1833–1898) was one of the key figures in Victorian art, achieving world-wide fame and recognition during his lifetime. As the last major figure associated with the Pre-Raphaelites, he led the movement into new symbolist directions where the expression of a mood or idea replaced the earlier focus on providing a realistic description of the natural world.
