Take into account that Peart,before switching to DW,was playing a vintage Slingerland Artist model snare,5.5x14,with a steambent maple shell.He simply had it refinished to match every kit he played.He also used evans hydraulic heads,and usually uses two ply heads,to get a pre muffled,more focused sound.

I think DW had a "signature kit" that you could buy for $30,000, but the figure that I saw at one point in a music magazine put the whole shebang (everything from the riser up including drums, cymbals, electronics, and mics) at over $75,000. I don't remember where I read that, though.

Since I was 10 years old I dreamed about having the Superstar set that Neil played. From Permanent Waves to Power Windows, I was in love with his drums.

It doesn't matter if they're not rock drummers and he is. Neil Peart has to be one of the most overrated drummers of all time.
