Made at both Saff Tech Arts, Oxford, Maryland, and Rauschenberg’s studio in Captiva Florida, these works were executed with "fire-wax” (the term Rauschenberg coined for encaustic). The hot wax, containing pigment, was painted or screenprinted onto polished aluminum and stainless steel supports.
