Leeway left the band in 1986, leaving Bailey and Currie to continue playing music for another seven years.In July 1986, the couple released their first single as a duo, “Nothing In Common,” which was only available in North America. It reached number 54 in the United States and number 68 in Canada.

She met Joe Leeway at a dinner party, where she recalls him grandstanding about wanting to live in a squat. “I’ll help you,” she offered, calling his bluff. Leeway’s chief interests were theatre and beat poetry, but he wound up joining Thompson Twins, along with Currie, for the second album, Set.
Joseph Martin Leeway (born 15 November 1955) is a British musician and songwriter, who is best known as being a member of the pop band Thompson Twins, joining the band in 1981 after being one of their roadies.

It was amicable, though Leeway said years later that he wasn’t a big fan of the guitars that had crept into the mix. Currie and Bailey, though, had even worse news. They had a relationship they had kept quiet through the years, even as it influenced some of their lyrics.
