The Greater Pibor Administrative Area is an administrative area in South Sudan. [1] [2] History. From the beginning of South Sudanese independence, the Anyuak, Jie, Kachepo, and Murle people in Jonglei sought greater autonomy from the Jonglei State government dominated by Nuer and Dinka.

Pibor or Post Post is a colonial era outpost built in 1912 by the British and was originally called Fort Bruce. The town serves as the headquarters of Pibor County, one of the constituent counties of the Jonglei State before creation of new states in 2015.
