Definitely agree. Cars 3 is the actual sequel to Cars. Cars 2 was just this sort of thing that went off in its own direction, but Cars 3 actually felt like a continuation of the story, especially in dealing with McQueen's retirement and reflecting on Hudson's legacy.

I have a hard time getting excited for anything Cars 3. Maybe it's because Cars 2 was so bad and forgettable (I can't even remember what the hell it was about). They could release a poster with a nude Lightning McQueen or a car orgy at a parking lot and it still wouldn't phase me.
He finds meaning when he realizes that most of the crew is on their second or third career with their glory days behind them. He accepts that being a mediocre firefighter is just as fulfilling as being a star race plane. It's oddly mature for a cash-grab and probably the second best movie in the series. 171.
