Turisas es un grupo de folk metal formado en Finlandia en 1997. Toma su nombre del antiguo dios finés de la guerra. Sus melodías combinan el folk metal con elementos del metal sinfónico y el power metal junto a voces guturales.

Turisas (Iku-Turso) is the name of a sea monster in Finnish mythology, sometimes considered a god of war. Olli Vänskä, Hannes Horma and Janne Mäkinen played with Turisas as touring members since 2004 before being added to the permanent line-up during the recording of the second album.
