Roger Keith Coulam, (born 21 August 1940 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, died 23 October 2005), was a British keyboard session musician, who formed Blue Mink in the autumn of 1969, with Madeline Bell (vocalist), Roger Cook (vocalist), Alan Parker (guitarist), Herbie Flowers (bassist), and Barry Morgan (drummer). During eight years from 2000-2007 he developed a worldwide reputation as a ground-breaking photographer of severe weather, making several appearances on television and radio. Since 2008 he has concentrated on his creative practice with his interests ranging widely in the natural and historic environment.

We first came across the work of Roger Coulam when he won the Shutter Hub award at this year's FORMAT International Portfolio Review Awards. His work was personally chosen as the winner by Brian Griffin, one of the patrons of the FORMAT Festival.
Roger Coulam was born in Lincolnshire in 1965. After secondary education in Yorkshire he studied BSc(Hons) Environmental Science at Newcastle upon Tyne Polytechnic. He began work as a freelance photographer in 1998 and turned professional in 2003.
