Eddie Jefferson (August 3, 1918 – May 9, 1979) was an American jazz vocalist and lyricist. He is credited as an innovator of vocalese, a musical style in which lyrics are set to an instrumental composition or solo. Jefferson himself claims that his main influence was Leo Watson.

Eddie Jefferson (born 3 August 1918 in Pittsburgh, died 9 May 1979 in Detroit) was a celebrated jazz vocalist and lyricist. He is credited with having invented 'vocalese', a musical style in which lyrics are set to an instrumental composition or solo.
28 de jul. de 2011 · Eddie Jefferson was a tap dancer who became a vocalist and lyricist of bebop solos, creating the vocalese style. He wrote lyrics to Charlie Parker, Lester Young and James Moody's songs and recorded several albums, including Letter from Home and Body and Soul.
