Miroslav Ladislav Vitouš (born 6 December 1947) is a Czech jazz bassist. [1] Biography. Early life and education. Born in Prague, [2] Vitouš began the violin at age six, switching to piano after about three years, and then to bass at age fourteen. [3] . As a young man in Europe, Vitouš was a competitive swimmer.
Fue miembro fundador del grupo Weather Report, y ha tocado junto a músicos como Jan Hammer, Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul o Jan Garbarek. Debido a diferencias personales, Vitouš abandonó Weather Report, siendo sustituido por el bajista Alphonso Johnson.
