Beadle Bamford, commonly referred to as "The Beadle", is the secondary antagonist of Sweeney Todd. Bamford is Judge Turpin's lackey. He is portrayed as a short, portly and greasy man. He wears a top hat and coat and carries a walking stick that doubles as a weapon.

While Todd lures the Beadle into his barber shop, Toby finds the grisly remains of butchered corpses in the bakehouse, thus discovering how the pies are made. The Beadle's corpse then comes crashing down through the trap door, sending a fearful Toby fleeing into the sewer.
