  2. Made at both Saff Tech Arts, Oxford, Maryland, and Rauschenbergs studio in Captiva Florida, these works were executed with "fire-wax” (the term Rauschenberg coined for encaustic). The hot wax, containing pigment, was painted or screenprinted onto polished aluminum and stainless steel supports.

  3. ROCI (pronounced “Rocky,” the name of the artist’s pet turtle) was a tangible expression of Rauschenbergs long-term commitment to human rights and to the freedom of artistic expression.
