  1. The 'hook effect' describes a phenomenon in quantitative PCR (qPCR) amplification curves where fluorescence values decrease following an initial amplification phase. We propose that in intercalating dye-based qPCR, the 'hook effect' is due to the amplification of heterogeneous but related DNA target ….

  2. 1 de dic. de 2018 · In this study we present two approaches to automatically detect hook effect-like curvatures based on linear (hookreg) and nonlinear regression (hookregNL). As the hook effect is typical for qPCR data, both algorithms can be employed for the automated identification of regular structured qPCR curves.

  4. The aim of the study is to provide software tools and algorithms, which assists qPCR users during the analysis and quality management of their data. In particular, this study shows how it is possible to automatically detect hook effects (see Barratt and Mackay (2002)) or hook effect-like curvatures.
