The tradition evolved into a fully-fledged battle around 1955 when it was started by Jim Jennings. In 2023, the Confetti Battle & Colour Rush (happening the same day) kicked off a Carnival Fortnight of preparations leading up to the Carnival Parade on 2nd September.

No one can remember the first official battle but we know its roots date back to the old Devizes Carnival in 1913, where confetti and rose petals were thrown by the crowd at people in the procession.

22 de ago. de 2023 · Large crowds flocked to a Wiltshire town for a “unifying” celebration of colour that dates back over a century. The Devizes Confetti Battle was held on Saturday, August 19, and visitors were joined by the runners from the annual Colour Rush as people packed out the Market Place.
