Murron gives William flowers. Murron was the daughter of Mother MacClannough and MacClannough, and was from a poor family and did not know how to read. In 1280, when she was just a little girl, she met William Wallace, a fellow townsperson.
At the beginning of Braveheart, William is handed a flower. This hints not only at his future with Murron but the flower is a Thistle, Scotland's national emblem. She is "giving" Scotland to the boy who will one day be its liberator.
At the age of 5 she made her acting debut playing the role of 'Young Murron' in Mel Gibson's film 'Braveheart', which went on to win five Oscars. Shortly after filming Mhairi returned to school and focused on her education.
