It seems really, really nice (congrats!), but the big minus of drawing with a grid is that you can draw a portrait with disturbed proportions and not understand it. Grid drawing is more beneficial when you really know how to measure proportions and shapes without it.
There's the grid method, if you're drawing from an original image. Print your original image out, then in biro mark out a grid of 2cm squares. Mark a fresh piece of blank paper with the same 2cm square grid again in biro.
