Shimizu-ku (清水区, Shimizu-ku) is the easternmost of the three wards of the city of Shizuoka in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. History. Shimizu-ku was created on April 1, 2005, when Shizuoka became a city designated by government ordinance (a "designated city").
Shimizu (清水町, Shimizu-chō) is a town in Suntō District of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 August 2019, the town had an estimated population of 32,453 in 14058 households, [1] and a population density of 3,700 persons per km 2. The total area of the town was 8.81 square kilometres (3.40 sq mi).
Shimizu Port has a number of attractions but is most famous for being among Japan's most scenic ports thanks to views of Mount Fuji on clear days. There were references to Shimizu Port already in Japan's oldest historical texts, which were compiled in the Nara Period (710-784).
