Phelan Beale was an American lawyer and sportsman who married Edith Ewing Bouvier, an aunt of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He owned the Grey Gardens mansion in East Hampton, New York, where his estranged wife and daughter "Little Edie" lived in a decaying state.
Phelan Beale Jr. was a journalist, author and unemployment compensation law expert. He was a son of Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale, a cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy and a subject of the documentary Grey Gardens.
