George Francis Miles (22 April 1852 – 15 July 1891) was a London-based British artist who specialised in pastel portraits of society ladies, also an architect and a keen plantsman.
George Francis (‘Frank’) Miles was born in 1852, the son of a well to do Nottinghamshire clergyman. He is best remembered today as an artist who specialised in portraits of beautiful society women in the 1870s and 80s, and for being a close friend, and possibly, the first male lover of Oscar Wilde with whom he shared a house from 1879-1881.

Personal Stuff. A little about me, since you’re here reading about… me. I was born in San Francisco, CA, which in a large way shaped my life. I was a shy kid, even more so as a teen. Some of the people I wished I had the courage to approach at school were excited about street performing, which was very popular out there on Fisherman’s Wharf.
