John Edmund Andrew Phillips (August 30, 1935 – March 18, 2001) [1] was an American musician. He was the leader of the vocal group the Mamas & the Papas and remains frequently referred to as Papa John Phillips.

The Papas & the Mamas is the fourth studio album by the American folk rock vocal group the Mamas and the Papas, released in 1968. Recording. The album was recorded at the home of John and Michelle Phillips, although with the same production team as on previous albums.
