29 de nov. de 2022 · After General George S. Patton Jr. died in Allied-occupied Germany in 1945, his body was transported to Luxembourg and buried there. The history of General Patton as a military leader is storied to say the least.
Afterward his body was placed aboard a special funeral train for the trip to Luxembourg for burial at the Military Cemetery in nearby Hamm, where 3,000 American soldiers lie, many of whom served under General Patton in the 3rd Army.

The Hamm cemetery, located 4 km east of the city of Luxembourg, was temporarily taken into service at the end of 1944 by the 3rd American army. At the beginning of 1945, the cemetery was laid out to finally accommodate 8,412 graves.
