A few friends of mine got me into this game recently, and both of them told me the parabolic is pretty useless. I was reading the tooltips and descriptions and journal entries and learned about the unique banshee tone, and also... I think one type of ghost curses you if you hear their sounds?
If it only ever goes one way, it's probably just naturally roaming, but if it consistently comes towards you, it's a Banshee. You can point a Paramic towards it if you really want to hear the scream, but this isn't entirely necessary to identify a Banshee, and the ghost isn't guaranteed to do it.
If the target leaves the house, the banshee will hunt normally. When the target dies, the banshee will select a new target. Will ignore all non-targets during a hunt. Increased chance for singing ghost events. Has a unique parabolic microphone sound: sounds like a scream. Will follow target around. Strength.
