Alex Skolnick (born September 29, 1968) is an American musician. He is best known as the lead guitarist and one of the songwriters of the thrash metal band Testament and has played with several other bands, including The Alex Skolnick Trio, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Savatage and the heavy metal supergroup Metal Allegiance .

En el año 1993 dejó Testament, y en 1994 se unió a la banda Savatage para grabar Handful of Rain y un disco en vivo.
Emerging as one of the original melodic thrash guitarists (alongside Marty Friedman), Alex later moved to New York and earned a BfA in Jazz from The New School, studying with such prestigious artists as George Garzone, Cecil McBee and Reggie Workman.

Since then, Skolnick has been involved in various projects, including recording and touring with Testament, which he rejoined in 2005, as well as penning his autobiography, Geek to Guitar Hero. We asked him to pick five highlights from his voluminous and genre-defying career.
While former Megadeth shredder Marty Friedman is often credited with bringing elements of polish to the gritty world of thrash, in truth, Testament's Alex Skolnick predated Friedman by a few years.
