All four of the Grand Slam tournaments host junior events alongside those for men and women. Although the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors was not founded until 1977, the history of junior events at the Grand Slams dates back to the 1920s when boys and girls played competitions at the Australian Open.
Grand Slam and Grade A tournaments. The grand slam tournaments are the same for juniors as they are for the professional seniors, the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. In addition, there are five other prestigious junior tournaments, given Grade A status by the ITF.

As a member of the Yugoslav national team, Djokovic reached the final of the 2001 Junior Davis Cup for players under 14, in which he lost his match in singles. In juniors, he compiled a singles win-loss record of 40–11 (and 23–6 in doubles), reaching a combined junior world ranking of No. 24 in February 2004.
