Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer, KG PC FRS (5 December 1661 – 21 May 1724) was an English statesman and peer of the late Stuart and early Georgian periods. He began his career as a Whig , before defecting to a new Tory ministry.
17 de may. de 2024 · Robert Harley, 1st earl of Oxford was a British statesman who headed the Tory ministry from 1710 to 1714. Although by birth and education he was a Whig and a Dissenter, he gradually over the years changed his politics, becoming the leader of the Tory and Anglican party.

Harley, Robert (1661-1724). Conde de Oxford, hombre de Estado inglés, nacido en 1661 y muerto en 1724. Fue ministro de la reina Ana; destruyó la influencia de los Marlborough y de los Godolphin en 1710; creó las loterías reales para llenar el tesoro de la reina, y negoció el Tratado de Utrecht en 1713.
