Michael Edwin Thornton (born March 23, 1949) is a retired United States Navy SEAL and recipient of the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in the Vietnam War.
Petty Officer Michael Thornton saved the life of his senior adviser, a lieutenant, who was wounded by enemy fire in a river base operation in 1972. He towed him to safety for two hours and received the Medal of Honor in 1973.
