Clara A. L. Virginia Fields, better known as C. Virginia Fields (née Clark; born August 6, 1945), is an American politician who served as Borough President of Manhattan. She was served two terms, elected in 1997 and reelected in 2001, with her second term expiring at the end of 2005.
C. Virginia Fields is a former New York City Council member and the first African American woman to run for mayor of New York City. She is also a social worker, activist and leader in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
C. Virginia Fields is a former Manhattan Borough President and a current leader of Black Health Inc., a national organization that promotes health equity for the Black community. She serves on several advisory councils and boards related to health, AIDS, and social work.
C. Virginia Fields is a former Manhattan borough president and a longtime Harlem community activist. She was the first African American woman to serve on the New York City Council and the second to win a council seat in Manhattan.
