David Bernard Montgomery, 2nd Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, CMG, CBE (18 August 1928 – 8 January 2020) was a British politician and businessman. He was the son of Bernard Montgomery.
The viscountcy was created in 1946 for the military commander Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery, commemorating his crucial victory in the Second Battle of El Alamein (23 October–3 November 1942) (named after a minor railway halt marking the allied defence line), which sealed the fate of Rommel's famed Afrika Korps.
David Montgomery, 2nd Viscount of Alamein, and son of WWII British hero Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, passed away on January 8, 2020. Along with being “Monty’s” son, a member of the House of Lords (1976-1999), an international businessman, and author/historian, David was a close friend of The National WWII Museum.
