Ajaz Yunus Patel (born 21 October 1988) is a New Zealand cricketer born in Mumbai, India who plays for Central Districts in domestic cricket. He emigrated with his family from Mumbai when he was eight years old, and was formerly a left-arm seam bowler. Patel is a slow left-arm orthodox spin bowler.
Ajaz Patel is a left-arm spinner who was born in Mumbai and emigrated to New Zealand in 1996. He has played 16 Tests, 7 T20Is and 102 first-class matches for New Zealand, and holds the record for the best bowling figures in Test cricket with 14/225.
While his maiden appearance for New Zealand was low-profile in the T20Is, Patel made his presence felt straightaway in the longest format as he bagged the Man of the Match award on Test debut.
