1 de mar. de 2011 · Algunas personas emplean "Pardon me?" y algunas otras " I beg your pardon". English is not my first language, however I think that the expresion "I beg your pardon" is not used in an ironic way because of its formality. It would be nice to know of a native speaker.

If you say "I am begging", then you are telling the person that you are begging. It's kind of like reported speech. But the meanings can overlap, and "I am begging" can also denote actual begging.
