Hailing from north Nottinghamshire, England, Steve began his career as lead singer and main songwriter with B-Movie, best known for their early 80s, Some Bizarre singles, Remembrance Day, and Nowhere Girl, which although relative commercial failures at the time, are now regarded as classics of the post-punk/new wave era.
The band's original line-up included lead vocalist and bassist Steve Hovington, guitarist Paul Statham, keyboardist Rick Holliday and drummer Graham Boffey. B-Movie's initial 1980 EP releases, the Take Three 7-inch and Nowhere Girl 12-inch, were issued on the small UK indie label Dead Good Records.

The enduring popularity of their best known songs combined with new material has led to the emergence of a new audience and regular shows across Europe. 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Nowhere Girl. In 2013, Hovington released a stripped back solo album ‘Coming of Age’ as Steve Hovington and The Fountain of Youth.
The original classic line up of Steve Hovington (Vocals/Bass), Paul Statham (Guitar), Rick Holliday (Keyboards) & Graham Boffey (Drums) was the band that recorded the 3 seminal singles 'Remembrance Day', 'Marilyn Dreams' & 'Nowhere Girl'. This band split up in 1983.
