Located in Greenwich Village, New York City, HB Studio offers training and development to aspiring and professional artists in acting, directing, playwriting, musical theatre, movement and the body, dialect study (speech and voice), scene study analysis, screenwriting and classes for young people.
HB Studio offers professional classes in the dramatic arts for committed actors, directors, and playwrights—beginning and experienced—to hone their skills in a community of peers and mentors.
HB Studio is one of the original acting studios in NYC, established in 1945 by the Broadway actor and director Herbert Berghof and the actress Uta Hagen. They brought the classical training of the European theatrical tradition into practice in the American theater and trained some of the most noted actors of the 20th century.
HB Studio's Movement & The Body studio classes & workshops blend acting training techniques with physical practices to develop a flexible, expressive "instrument" for portraying a wide range of characters and scenarios.
