Tuomo Ollinpoika Lassila (born 1965) is a Finnish percussionist and heavy metal drummer. He is best known as the former drummer, founding member and co-songwriter of the power metal band Stratovarius from 1985 to 1995.
Lassila is best known for having founded Stratovarius along with John Vihervä and Staffan Stråhlman in 1984, when the band was known as Black Water; he has been the only remaining founder until 1995, when he left the band due to creative disagreements with Timo Tolkki.
Stratovarius (a portmanteau of Stratocaster and Stradivarius) was founded by Tuomo Lassila, John Vihervä, and Staffan Stråhlman originally under the name Black Water. The name "Stratovarius" was invented by Lassila. The music of early Stratovarius was very different from what it is today.
