12 de dic. de 2006 · Definitely a touch of the Blarney, Irish tenor Josef Locke became a star of British variety theatres, a superstar of his day earning fabulous amounts - and spending it! When finally about to be arrested for non-payment of taxes in 1958, Locke fled back to the Irish Republic and more or less stayed there.
Joseph McLaughlin (23 March 1917 – 15 October 1999), known professionally as Josef Locke, was an Irish tenor. He was successful in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the 1940s and 1950s.

His version of "Galway Bay" was the biggest-selling record in Ireland during 1948-9, whilst his recordings of "Goodbye", "Ave Marie", and "The Soldiers Dream" were all very near as popular. In fact, by the turn of 50's it was estimated that he'd sold well in excess of a million 78s.
