Also while at Tulane, Capps started a blues-rock band called Stavin' Chain. This band released one eponymous album before disbanding. In 2004, several of Capps' songs appeared on the soundtrack of the film A Love Song for Bobby Long, which was based on a novel written by Capps' father.

Hailed by NPR’s Mountain Stage for his “unbridled energy and authenticity,” Capps first emerged as a solo artist in 2005 following stints in the New Orleans thrash folk band the House Levelers, which he joined while still a student studying theater at Tulane, and his subsequent blues-rock group, Stavin’ Chain.

16 de ago. de 2012 · Grayson is able to paint a picture with words to a point where you could swear that you were there and saw what he was talking about. He is catagorized as blues and some people may be detracted by that because he is modern and that it isn't all blues.
Now recording under his own name for Hyena Records, Grayson Capps previously gigged and recorded with a friend as Stavin' Chain. He describes the background... "Some friends of mine, John Lawrence and John Dawson, discovered a stretch of houses on the railroad tracks off Tchoupitoulas St. in New Orleans.
