Echo Round His Bones is a science fiction novel by American writer Thomas M. Disch. It was originally serialized in New Worlds magazine in December 1966 and January 1967. [1] It was subsequently published in book form in 1967.

Disch is amazing, and no one thinks like he does. While this, his fourth novel hints at greatness under the aegis of a sci-fi pulp romance. And its really fun. A matter-transfer device splits Captain Nathan Hansard into a ghost-like being that can walk through solid matter.
Every time someone is transported, an echo of him is created. It's just like the original person, except that it's a ghost-like creature that can walk though walls, unless they're made of a really hard substance.
