Golriz Ghahraman (Persian: گلریز قهرمان; born 1981) is a former New Zealand politician, lawyer and writer. The former United Nations lawyer was a child asylum seeker, and became the first refugee elected to New Zealand's Parliament.

13 de mar. de 2024 · Ghahraman resigned from Parliament in January after footage of her stealing from three stores emerged. She admitted to four counts of shoplifting in Auckland District Court on March 13, citing mental health issues and abuse as factors.

Former Green MP Golriz Ghahraman will learn her fate later today, after her political career was left in tatters following a shoplifting scandal. Ghahraman, 43, admitted four shoplifting charges relating to the theft of thousands of dollars' worth of clothing when she appeared in the Auckland District Court in March.
