Ensley High School is a former high school which was located in the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama (United States). It was founded in 1901 to serve the then-independent community of Ensley, which was centered on major plants operated by U.S. Steel and the American Cast Iron Pipe Company.

16 de ene. de 2020 · Ensley High School was an all-white school until September 1964, when the school was integrated, thankfully without any major incidents. The student body shifted to primarily African-American by the mid-1970s due to the major loss of the steelworks and persistent racism and segregation in the Birmingham area.

14 de ago. de 2017 · The school was a wooden structure built by the City of Ensley and opened in September 1901 with only grades 9-11. It was financed under the provisions of the newly ratified Alabama Constitution of 1901. A $7,000 loan for school construction was repaid from a special tax on saloons.
3 de nov. de 2021 · BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A touching moment as a group of Ensley High School alumni gathered to say goodbye to their old stomping ground over the weekend. One member even dressed in his old band uniform and played his trumpet while they sang the school song.
