The album was produced by Eric Drew Feldman (who was keyboard and bass player for Captain Beefheart in the late seventies and early eighties) and welcomes guests such as Scott McCloud from Girls Against Boys (on Fell Off the Floor, Man), Dana Colley from Morphine (on Supermarketsong) and Bart Maris from X-Legged Sally (on Nine Threads).
In 1996, he produced In a Bar, Under the Sea by Belgian band dEUS. Two years later, he produced Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb by Dallas group Tripping Daisy. He later produced Together We're Heavy (2004) by The Polyphonic Spree, a 24-member troupe containing three ex-members of Tripping Daisy.
In a Bar, Under the Sea es el segundo álbum de estudio de la banda de rock belga Deus. La portada fue diseñada por el guitarrista Rudy Trouvé. El lanzamiento belga original fue de Bang !, con la única diferencia de que la pista 14 se llama simplemente "Roses", como el single.
But dEUS was on the bill, and I remember talking to the guys, but not... just seeing people backstage.. and when they were gonna make the record that I did with them that was called In a Bar Under the Sea, they had a big list of producers, most of them far more well-known than me.
"In a bar under the Sea" is a strange cocktail donated of funk, hard rock and grunge. A mixture of Prince, The Red Hot Chile Peppers and Rage against the Machine is perhaps the best way to describe the new album by Deus.

Hit singles were: "Fell Off the Floor, Man," "Theme from Turnpike" (used in the short movie Turnpike ), "Roses," and "Little Arithmetics."
