Nascido na Califórnia, Ben Harper cresceu a ouvir blues, folk, soul, R&B e reggae.Aprendeu a tocar guitarra ainda criança e montou diversas bandas em sua adolescência, sempre influenciado por nomes como Blues Traveler, Hootie & the Blowfish, Phish e Taj Mahal.
Im Alter von 17 Jahren erhielt Ben Harper eine Bottleneck- Slide-Gitarre ( Weissenborn ). Seine frühesten Auftritte hatte er im LA Circuit mit Bluesnummern. Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals have had to cancel their upcoming shows in Portland, ME on Oct. 3 and Hampton Beach, NH on Oct. 4 due to COVID-19 illness within the touring party. The band is taking all safety precautions and will be back on tour for the Burlington, VT show on Oct. 6.
