James Frederick Lilja [1] (born May 7, 1966 [2]) is an American gynecologic oncologist and a musician. [3] He was the first drummer of the punk rock band the Offspring, performing with the band between 1984 and 1987.
After drummer Ron Welty joined the band in 1987 to replace James Lilja, the band started recording their debut album in 1989. After recording a demo in 1988, the Offspring signed a deal with a small-time label, Nemesis Records, for whom they recorded their first full-length album, The Offspring, in March 1989.
