Our M.A. in Arts Politics offers an intimate and intensive one-year experience that expands the possibilities of cultural production. We rigorously explore the interplay between critical theory and creative practice. We provide a one-of-a-kind encounter with activists, artists, theorists and curators from diverse disciplines and interests.

Graduates of the M.A. program may pursue careers in arts management/administration, education, grant-writing, and other arts-related media and policy work. The M.A. and Ph.D. Programs in Performance Studies are administered by the Tisch School of the Arts and degrees are conferred by the Graduate School of Arts and Science at NYU.

In 1972, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting became the first professional actor training school to become affiliated with NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The program has continued since, leading students to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and combining academic studies at New York University with professional training at the studio.
