  1. Environmental education is essential to the Lower School curriculum, teaching students to appreciate nature and protect the environment.   2. Character +Community. Teachers encourage students to develop character strengths alongside disciplinary knowledge. In reading, writing, and math, a workshop model of instruction allows students to develop at their own pace and to learn from collaborating with others. Classroom activities emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving.

  3. Spanish I. This course covers language fundamentals equivalent to those completed in Spanish I-a and Spanish I-b combined. By the end of the year, skills in listening, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and reading are sufficiently developed to enable students to enter second-level courses. Spanish II.

  7. The Class of '28 celebrated their transition to Upper School at a graduation ceremony. Highlights of the event were a presentation by Chloe Tang and Isabelle Hyun of the ceiling tile they created to represent their Middle School experience, a Riverdale MS tradition, as well as speeches by students Roger Lu, Debbie Benadrete, Owen Rosen, Surya Das, Riley Barnett, and Gabby Barrett.
