  5. 5 de sept. de 2023 · Kunstgeschichte Von 1690 bis 1695 war Georg Gsell in Wien Schüler des dortigen Antwerpeners Antonius Schongauer (1650 bis 1726). Von 1697 bis 1704 lebte Gsell in seiner Geburtsstadt St.Gallen. Dann verlegte er seinen Wohnsitz nach Amsterdam, wo er 1704 eingebürgert wurde. Hier ging er 1703 seine zweite Ehe mit der Holländerin Anna Horstmans ...

In October 1717 Georg Gsell became court painter in Saint Petersburg and Dorothea became a teacher at the Petrus Academie of Science, and curator of the natural history collection Kunstkamera (which included her own work). In 1736 she returned to Amsterdam to purchase works by her mother for the collection. She died in Saint Petersburg.
