The Mist is a science fiction psychological horror novella by American author Stephen King.First published by Viking Press in 1980 as part of the Dark Forces anthology, an edited version was subsequently included in King's 1985 collection Skeleton Crew.In the story, the small town of Bridgton, Maine is shrouded in a dense mist that conceals otherworldly creatures.

While the escapees from the market are driving the Land Cruiser on an unknown highway through the Mist, the Behemoth moves across the highway directly in front of the Land Cruiser, snapping power lines with its slow strides and flattening utility poles beneath its feet.

The Mist is an American science fiction-horror thriller television series developed by Christian Torpe. It is based on the 1980 horror novella of the same name by author Stephen King. The series aired for one 10-episode season on Spike from June 22 to August 24, 2017. Spike later cancelled the series on September 27 the same year.
