Replica, 1963. On the most basic level, Traveler's Folding Item stands as a typical Readymade. It demonstrates the clear displacement of an everyday object from its original context and function. A cover with no typewriter for it to protect is utterly useless.

6 de may. de 2021 · In the 1940s, during a Yale University travelling exhibition, a janitor in Minnesota mistakenly put one example to work. Other readymades, including Traveller’s Folding Item and Bicycle Wheel, generated ideas only taken up by artists decades later, such as soft sculpture and kinetic sculpture.
... Pliant ... de voyage. (Traveler's Folding Item) 1916 / 1964. "I thought it would be a good idea to introduce softness in the readymade -why not use something flexible." Like most of Duchamp's readymades, the original has been lost. This typewriter cover refers to an everyday object for Duchamp who possessed an Underwaod brand typewriter.
