Nishi-ku (西区) is one of eight wards in the city of Hiroshima, Japan. The Hiroshima–Nishi Airport was located in Nishi-ku. Geography. The ward of Nishi-ku is in the southwest part of Hiroshima. There are many mountains, but the other wards are mostly larger in area.

El centro de la ciudad consta de tres barrios: Naka-ku (中区) o el barrio central, donde se sitúa el ayuntamiento, Minami-ku (南区) o el barrio del sur, y Nishi-ku (西区) o el barrio del oeste.
The capital of the prefecture of the same name, Hiroshima is the most important city of the Chûgoku region, with more than one million citizens. It is universally known because of the bombings of 6 August 1945. Today, it is one of the main industrial and port centers in western Japan.
Mitaki-dera Temple is dedicated to Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy and dates back to 809. Close to the entrance of the complex is a striking two-storied pagoda. This was moved to Hiroshima from Wakayama in 1951 to help comfort the souls of those killed by the atomic bomb.
