Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks (born October 22, 1989), known professionally as JPEGMafia (stylized in all caps as JPEGMAFIA), is an American rapper, singer, and record producer. Born in Flatbush, Brooklyn, he signed with Republic Records to release his debut studio album, Black Ben Carson (2016).

The only thread I can find about this is one explaining that the name comes from a rap group he was in where everybody's name ended in "Mafia". So he was Jpegmafia, and some other guy was Dragonmafia for example. But anyone know why he chose Jpeg as the prefix?
