Godzilla is a 1998 American monster film directed and co-written by Roland Emmerich. Produced by Centropolis Entertainment, Fried Films, and Independent Pictures, and distributed by TriStar Pictures, it is a reboot of Toho Co., Ltd.'s Godzilla franchise.

Someone did a fan comic of the script and used it, and I can see it if they went that way. You can see the progress: Winston's realistic version of the classic, Delgado's dinosaur version of Godzilla, ending with Patrick Tatopoulos' lizard creation of Godzilla.
I find that my issue with the 1998 incarnation of Godzilla is not the design, it's the execution: The fact that it runs from military attack instead of facing it down, that it is brought down by light aircraft missiles, and that it does not breathe atomic breath.
