There is a notdef character that means the glyph is not found. But it has no charcode. You can use the charcodes of controll characters to insert a notdef character (like "", U+0002)
Some should not display at all (zero-width invisible characters); some should display as a visible (but blank) space; and some should be displayed with one or more generic glyphs, often referred to as “missing glyphs” or a “.notdef glyph”.
Specials is a short Unicode block of characters allocated at the very end of the Basic Multilingual Plane, at U+FFF0–FFFF. Of these 16 code points, five have been assigned since Unicode 3.0: U+FFF9 INTERLINEAR ANNOTATION ANCHOR, marks start of annotated text.
29 de may. de 2024 · The .notdef glyph is very important for providing the user feedback that a glyph is not found in the font. This glyph should not be left without an outline as the user will only see what looks like a space if a glyph is missing and not be aware of the active font’s limitation.
18 de abr. de 2018 · According to the Unicode standard it's known as a "Replacement Glyph" but technically it's a Glyph Failure. In practice, the codepoint is used as a Failure Glyph. The U+FFFD REPLACEMENT CHARACTER is used to replace an unknown, unrecognized or unrepresentable character. It's also known as a Tofu.
